Chicago Heights, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Marian Catholic tightened the defensive clamps Friday, shutting down Crete-Monee in the Thornton 3A regional title contest, 39-16. Madison Davis led the way with 17 points, while Taylor Bolton chipped in 12 markers. In limiting the Warriors to six total field goals, Marian gained a scoring edge in all four quarters.
Marian will take on Kankakee in the Hillcrest Sectional semifinals on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The Spartans (26-7) won their sixth straight regional title and 25th overall while reaching the 26-victory plateau for the 13th time.
Dan Murray, in his 10th year, coaches the Spartan women. John Dee and Breanne Amadio assist.
The team won the 2013 State Championship and the 2014 State Third Place.
