Washington, D.C.-(ENEWSPF)- The FBI has issued several official updates on the suspicious packages that were sent to prominent Democrats. The actions amount to assassination attempts, and President Trump needs to step up, take responsibility for his rhetoric, and act “Presidential.”
Mayor John Ostenburg of Park Forest, IL, issued the following statement yesterday on social media, “Do people of the U.S. actually realize what occurred yesterday? It was an assassination attempt on two former Presidents, a former Secretary of State, a former Attorney General, a former head of the CIA, a member of Congress, and a leading U.S. successful businessman! There never before has been such a single effort to kill American leaders. This type of thing has occurred in other nations but never the U.S. This is an American tragedy of great magnitude and must be viewed as such by all of us.”
“I pray our nation rebounds from this unfortunate state in which it presently finds itself,” the mayor concluded.
We concur.
The FBI has confirmed today that an 11th package has been recovered in Florida, similar in appearance to the others, addressed to Sen. Cory Booker.
Yesterday, the FBI confirmed three packages in addition to those that had been already reported, similar in appearance to the others—one in New York addressed to Robert DeNiro, and two in Delaware addressed to former Vice President Joseph Biden.
On October 24, the FBI issued a statement saying that in addition to the five packages originally reported, the FBI confirmed two additional packages, both addressed to Rep. Maxine Waters, that are similar in appearance.
Packages were also sent to the offices of CNN, a media outlet President Trump has targeted with accusations that they are “fake news.”
The FBI originally reported that between October 22 and 24, 2018, suspicious packages were received at multiple locations in the New York and Washington, D.C., areas
“This investigation is of the highest priority for the FBI. We have committed the full strength of the FBI’s resources and, together with our partners on our Joint Terrorism Task Forces, we will continue to work to identify and arrest whoever is responsible for sending these packages,” said FBI Director Christopher Wray. “We ask anyone who may have information to contact the FBI. Do not hesitate to call; no piece of information is too small to help us in this investigation.”
All of the packages were mailed in manila envelopes with bubble wrap interior. The packages were affixed with computer-printed address labels and six Forever stamps. All packages had a return address of “DEBBIE WASSERMAN SHULTZ” [sic] in Florida.
The original packages identified to date were addressed to:
- George Soros
- Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
- Former President Barack Obama
- Former CIA Director John Brennan, care of CNN
- Former Attorney General Eric Holder
The package addressed to former Attorney General Holder did not reach its intended destination, but was rerouted to the return address in Florida.
The FBI will continue to work with our federal law enforcement partners at the United States Secret Service, United States Postal Inspection Service, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, as well as our state and local law enforcement partners, to identify and arrest the person or people responsible for sending these packages.
It is possible that additional packages were mailed to other locations. The FBI advises the public to remain vigilant and not touch, move or handle any suspicious or unknown packages.
In yet another late-night/early-morning tweet, the President of the United States washed his hands of any responsibility for these horrendous actions, again taking aim at CNN, “Funny how lowly rated CNN, and others, can criticize me at will, even blaming me for the current spate of Bombs and ridiculously comparing this to September 11th and the Oklahoma City bombing, yet when I criticize them they go wild and scream, ‘it’s just not Presidential!'”
The president is not acting “Presidential.” Not at all.
If you have information about these packages, please contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or tips.fbi.gov. If you observe any suspicious activity that requires an immediate response, please call 911 or contact your local law enforcement.
