CHICAGO HEIGHTS–(ENEWSPF)–February 18, 2016. At the Jan. 26 meeting of the Prairie State College (PSC) Board of Trustees, two new administrators were announced. Elighie Wilson III was named dean of liberal arts, and Dr. Stefanie D. Coleman was named director, first year experience.
Wilson has been serving as interim dean, liberal arts at PSC since January 2015, after the retirement of Susan Solberg. In that role, he has been responsible for supervising all academic programs in the division, which includes English, Communication, Fine Arts, Social Sciences, Humanities and Performing Arts.
Wilson joined the faculty at PSC in 2000. Prior to coming to the college, he had served as an instructor in communication courses at Illinois State University in Normal, and then at Millikin University in Decatur. At PSC, he previously served as the communication program coordinator and the coordinator of faculty development, as well as coach for the PSC speech team, in addition to classroom teaching.
Wilson has a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., and a Master of Science degree from Illinois State University.
“Mr. Wilson brings a wealth of experience to his role as dean of liberal arts, having served both as interim dean and as a faculty member in the department,” said Dr. Terri L. Winfree, PSC president. “I am certain that the division and the college as a whole will continue to benefit from his knowledge.”
As director, first year experience, Coleman is responsible for developing program goals and initiatives that are designed to meet the needs of first-year students and support their academic success.
Coleman comes to PSC from the American College of Surgeons in Chicago, where she worked in the Division of Education, assisting with preparations for the annual Clinical Congress Conference. Before that, she had worked at Robert Morris University in Chicago, first as an academic advisor, then director of career services, then associate dean for career development and finally as dean for career development.
Coleman has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Illinois at Chicago, a Master of Public Administration from Governors State University and a Doctor of Education from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wisc.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Coleman to Prairie State College,” Winfree said. “Her previous years of working in higher education and the understanding she brings will truly assist our incoming classes navigate the beginning of their college experience.”
