Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Rich East fell to the Bloomington Purple Raiders 21-14 in the Rockets’ home opener Saturday.
The Rockets put up 6 in the first quarter and fought in the fourth quarter, putting 8 points on the board. In spite of their rallying efforts, the Purple Raiders scored 7 points in the first, second, and fourth quarters. The fourth quarter score was the icing on the cake for Bloomington.
Rich East Football said in a statement on Twitter that the Rockets “battled to the VERY END,” vowing to #honortherockets:
“Not the result we wanted but our players battled to the VERY END losing 21-14 to Bloomington. Couldn’t be prouder of our Rockets. Will be excited to see us get better on Monday. We control our destiny. #honortherockets”

The game kicked off at noon.
The Rockets take a 15-hour trek to Ypsilanti, Michigan next week, facing the Grizzlies on September 7 in another non-conference game. That game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
Rich East evened their varsity record to 1-1 after last week’s victory over Urbana.
