Honorary Degree Recipient Peter Schjeldahl to Speak at GSU

University Park, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Peter Schjeldahl, chief art critic for “The New Yorker,” will visit Governors State University in University Park to receive an honorary degree at Spring Commencement and present a guest lecture on art.

On Saturday, June 12, Schjeldahl will be the honorary degree recipient at Governors State University’s 2010 Spring Commencement. Commencement will be held at 11 a.m., at the Tinley Park Holiday Inn Select and Convention Center. More than 500 graduates will participate in Spring Commencement.

Schjeldahl will also speak on Friday, June 11, at 3:30 p.m., in Engbretson Hall. His insight into the world of modern art comes from years as an art critic. Using his keen insight and clear eloquence, he will invite the audience into the world of art.

In addition to “The New Yorker,” Schjeldahl has contributed to “ArtNews,” “The New York Times,” “The Village Voice,” and “7 Days.”
