High School Seniors Can Enroll in a Free Course at PSC

Chicago Heights, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Choosing a college is an important decision for many high school students. When high school seniors weigh their options, they will discover Prairie State College (PSC) has many benefits. Students can complete their first two years of college at PSC and transfer to a four-year college or university as a junior. Students also can enroll in one of the college’s career or technical programs for training that expands beyond the classroom.

High school seniors in the PSC district can explore their options while still in high school and enroll in a college level course for free.

“This is a great opportunity for high school seniors to see why so many students choose PSC as the place to start their college career,” said Beth Wyack, enrollment advisor. “Students can experience PSC’s excellent faculty and modern labs and classrooms by taking advantage of this free course.”

To be eligible, students must live within the Prairie State district, have a grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, and obtain permission from their high school. Students who take advantage of the free course either during the fall before their senior year, and earn a B or better, are eligible for a second tuition-free course in the spring of senior year.

For more information about the special tuition waiver, please contact Wyack at (708) 709-7776 or e-mail [email protected].

Registration is currently underway for fall classes. Classes begin August 24. New students must register in person at the college, located at 202 S. Halsted St., Chicago Heights. Continuing students may register online at prairiestate.edu or in person. Registration hours are Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday, beginning August 14, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, contact PSC’s Counseling and Academic Advising Center at (708) 709-3506.
