Fall Gardening Program at Prairie State College ‘Successful Gardening: the Final Harvest’

Chicago Heights, IL—(ENEWSPF)—August 16, 2013. New gardeners can learn how to get the most out of their gardens at Prairie State College’s (PSC) Fall program “Successful Gardening: The Final Harvest.” The program will be held on Saturday, September 7 from 9 a.m. to noon in room K 115 located in PSC’s K-Building, 202 S. Halsted, Chicago Heights.

Students will learn what to do with their excess harvest, including cooking, freezing and canning. They also will learn how to prepare their garden for the next growing season. How to replace nutrients, remove plants, compost and prepare soil will be demonstrated.

The fee for this non-credit class is $29.

Note: PSC’s K-Building is located behind the Prairie State Car Wash at Halsted Street and Vollmer Road. The driveway for the K-Building is located a ½ block west of Halsted Street on Vollmer (turn north).
