MATTESON–(ENEWSPF)–January 20, 2016. Congresswoman Robin Kelly today nominated 11 high school students from her district for admission to United States Military Academies.
“I am proud to support the admission of these exceptional young men and women into our nation’s finest military academies,” Rep. Kelly said. “Their intellect, character and willingness to serve will invigorate our military’s tradition of excellence in leadership.”
Rep. Kelly nominated the following students for admission to the Class of 2020:
U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York: Maxamillian Morales of Homewood, Isabella Sharper of Essex, Adam Smith of Bradley, and Jacob Wakeley of Bourbonnais.
U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland: Jace Haddon of Monee, Maxamillian Morales of Homewood, Tyler Schiemann of Beecher, Isabella Sharper of Essex, Andrew VanMilligan of Lansing, Jacob Wakeley of Bourbonnais, and Reanna Wells of Sauk Village.
U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado: Cenada Clifton-Smith of Richton Park, Maxamillian Morales of Homewood, James Render IV of Markham, and Isabella Sharper of Essex.
U.S. Merchant Marines in Kings Point, New York: Eric Morris Johnson of Plainfield and Maxamillian Morales of Homewood.
Each academy will review the list of students nominated by the congresswoman and then select the finalists for admission. The academies have an extremely competitive application process and are ranked annually among the best colleges in America. Upon graduation, the cadets become officers in the military and typically serve five to eight years in the armed services.
