Prairie State College Offers New Course: ‘Successful Gardening: From Seedling to Harvest’


 

CHICAGO HEIGHTS—(ENEWSPF)—May 13, 2013. Are you someone that wants to try their hands at gardening, but have no idea where to begin? Prairie State College (PSC) will be offering a new hands-on class, ‘Successful Gardening: From Seedling to Harvest’ that will teach you how to develop and maintain a successful garden.

Topics include: proper soil preparation, how and when to plant, proper watering, and weed and pest control. Students will also learn how to respond to climate changes during the growing season.

Classes will be held on two days:

  • Wednesday, May 29 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, June 1 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Day 1 classes will be classroom style and on Day 2, class will be in Prairie State’s community garden where students will get hands-on growing experience. Class will be held in building K of PSC’s main campus, 202 S. Halsted, Chicago Heights.

Fee for the class is $45. Those who complete the course will be offered a 20% discount on purchasing a garden plot at PSC’s community garden (plot fee is normally $25).
