MAINE–(ENEWSPF)–August 25, 2011.
Anyone feel the earthquake Tuesday? Wow! It was my first earthquake experience in my 50-plus years and, for 30 seconds or so, the world literally seemed to be twisting and turning. I’m guessing it will be one of those “do-you-remember-where-you-were-when” moments.
I happened to be at Glenstone, the modern art museum in Potomac, Md., where the grounds staff and management began working with SafeLawns 13 months ago to this day to convert its massive landscape to natural management. They stopped cold turkey, or as they now call it “cold Tukey,” switching from intensive chemical management with several applications of urea-based fertilizers and toxic weed killers, fungicides and other pesticides.
So how are we doing? The photos, all taken today with my iPhone, are untouched, not color corrected or manipulated in any way.
