A black 9mm Beretta PX4 Storm handgun was reported stolen from a car in Park Forest on August 17.

The Burglary Dispatch from August 14 – August 20, 2019

Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- A safe was reported stolen from a home. In a separate incident, a 9mm Beretta PX4 Strom handgun and $1900 cash are among items reported stolen from a vehicle that was likely left unlocked, according to the report.

These burglary reports indicate the street where the incidents were reported. There were two incidents of burglary reported during the dates listed.

8/15/19 4:50: Safe Stolen from Home

On August 15 at approximately 4:50 AM officers were flagged down on the 300 block of Miami street. Officers spoke with a woman who related that she had woken up at approximately 4:45 a.m. that morning to find that her safe was missing and the door to her house was open.

The safe contained a paycheck of $140, check stubs, and $165 cash. The woman related that she did not know who could have done this and she does not suspect anyone. Officers observed the rear door to the house was ajar but did not see any pry marks or other damages. The woman related to officers that the rear door was usually kept locked but was unsure if the door had been locked that night. Officers conducted a neighborhood canvas.

8/17/19 15:20: Handgun, Cash Stolen from Car

On August 17 at approximately 3:20 PM officers were dispatched to the Park Forest Police Department in reference to a burglary to a motor vehicle. Upon arrival to the scene, officers spoke with the owner of the car who related that his Lincoln Town Car appeared to have been ransacked.

The man said he went out to the vehicle to see the glove box and armrest were open and had been disturbed, but no items were taken from that area and there was no damage to the vehicle.

The man related that he commonly left the doors to his vehicle unlocked.

Upon further inspection of the vehicle, the man noticed that a satchel was missing. The satchel is described as being black, medium-sized, with “NIKE” written across it in gold lettering.

Items in the satchel include the man’s driver license, FOID card, conceal carry license, state ID card, debit card, target gift card and $100 in cash.

Other items from the satchel were black Samsung ear pods worth $300, $1,900 in cash, keys to his secondary home, a charger, and a black 9mm Beretta PX4 Storm handgun.

Officers photographed the vehicle, however, nothing of evidentiary value was located. Officers conducted a neighborhood canvass which yielded negative results.

The firearm was entered into LEADS as stolen.
