Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Park Forest Police announced first-degree murder charges against a man in connection with an April 2018 shooting where one person died.

According to a statement issued Tuesday by police, on April 27, 2018, at approximately 12:50 a.m., Park Forest officers responded to the 100 block of Algonquin Street in reference to a report of shots fired.

“In June of 2018, Markees Sharkey, 18, Chicago, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder,” according to the statement.

The investigation continued and more evidence was obtained. On October 1, 2019, Robert Sanner (pictured above), 20, Chicago Heights, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, according to police.

“We remind the public that our judicial system provides the presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law,” police said in the statement.

“Despite this case taking over a year of continued investigation, investigators remained diligent, bringing additional suspects to justice,” Police said in the statement. “It is our hope that such work brings some relief to the friends and family of the victim, and to the community.”
