NEW YORK—(ENEWSPF)—March 20, 2011.  The following remarks are attributed to Derek Johnson, CEO of Yele Haiti:

As many of you by now have heard, our founder and former chairman Wyclef Jean was the victim of a minor gun shot wound last night in Haiti. We have confirmation from the authorities and from Wyclef’s family that he was immediately taken to the hospital, treated for a minor graze to his hand and released. His family reports that he is fine. Although, he separated from our organization almost a year ago, we will continue our hard work in Wyclef’s founding vision and pray for his safety, as well as an end to the violence in Haiti.
