Eddie Blue, 16, of the 1600 block of Little City Drive in Palatine has been charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault. Blue appeared in Rolling Meadows bond court on Wednesday.

Cook County Sheriff’s Police Patrol officers responded to the group home on the 1500 block of Port Center Drive in Palatine on September 12th, after receiving a report of a sexual assault. Investigators learned that Blue had allegedly forced a 30-year-old staff worker into a restroom, then proceeded to choke her, tear off her clothes, and sexually assault her. The employee fought back at first, but fearing for her life, she ceased to resist. Blue eventually let the worker go, and she went for help. Other staff members monitored Blue until police arrived. Both the victim and Blue were transported by the Palatine Fire Department to Northwest Community Hospital where they were treated and released. Blue suffers from mild mental retardation and other mental health disorders. He had no history of violence at the home previously.

After his release from the hospital, officers brought Blue to the Sheriff’s Police Maybrook Headquarters for questioning. On September 12th and 13th, detectives conducted numerous interviews with staff members at the group home. Blue was charged as an adult with aggravated criminal sexual assault late Tuesday night.

Eddie Blue’s next court date is October 5th in Rolling Meadows.
