Police: No Attempted Child Abduction in Park Forest Wednesday


Park Forest, IL -(ENEWSPF)- There was no attempted child abduction in Park Forest Wednesdy.

Really.

Police issued a statement Wednesday night regarding what appears to have been a misunderstanding.

According to police, on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, the Park Forest Police Department conducted an investigation into an incident that had occurred in the Village near a bus stop area during the morning. A young student became frightened when a subject she did not know ran towards her from a vehicle. She fled and the police were called. Witnesses were located, leads developed and a vehicle and subjects of interest were found later in the day.

Police say those subjects were interviewed by investigators and found to live in the area with one of them, exiting the vehicle and running back to his residence to retrieve his forgotten cell phone before going to work and in doing so, unknowingly frightened the student.

Park Forest schools and the Police Department took the necessary measures to protect all students while the incident was being investigated.

The subjects of interest were released and no charges will be filed in respect to this matter, according to police.
