FBI: Civil Agreement Reached with Leisure Properties LLC

Springfield, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Leisure Properties LLC, d/b/a Crownline Boats (Leisure Properties), has reached a civil agreement with the United States of America arising from their removal and/or alteration of Hull Identification Numbers (HINs) on 21 of their boats, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Stephen R. The United States alleged that during 2009 and 2010, 21 unsold boats were returned to Leisure Properties, who then refurbished them to new boat standards and issued new HINs. The United States further alleged that issuing new HINs without prior approval of the United States Coast Guard was in violation of federal law.

“Leisure Properties cooperated fully with the United States during the course of the investigation, and, in part because of that cooperation, the United States determined that the proper resolution of this matter was through a civil agreement with Leisure Properties,” noted United States Attorney Wigginton.

Leisure Properties entered into a civil settlement agreement and paid the United States $105,000 to resolve the claims. This case was investigated by the United States Coast Guard and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
