Hundreds of Students and Parents Attend Reception for ‘Robin’s Readers’

SOUTH HOLLAND—(ENEWSPF)—April 28, 2015. More than 400 students and their parents attended a reception at South Suburban College recognizing the participants of “Robin’s Readers,” a book reading challenge for students throughout the 2nd Congressional District, grades K-8.

During the 10-week challenge, more than 3,000 students collectively read tens of thousands of books.

“I am so proud of all the children for showing their love of reading and learning. The book-reading challenge was a success because of the coordinated effort of school teachers, principals and librarians, who work hard to provide a dynamic environment for our kids to learn. The parents also deserve thanks for being so supportive of their children and instilling in them a lifelong love of reading.”

The children were treated to story-telling by seven Chicago-based children’s book authors, including Regina Fraser and Pat Johnson, stars of the Emmy award winning PBS TV series, Grannies on Safari.
