GSU Hosts Student Art Exhibit

University Park, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The Visual Arts Gallery at Governors State University is pleased to present “Figures in Abstraction,” an exhibit of oil paintings by Karen Keorpes of Orland Park. This solo exhibit will open on August 31, and run through September 8. An opening reception celebrating the art and the artist will be held on Friday, September 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

Keorpes’ oil paintings evolve from her large collection of spontaneous sketchbook ink drawings. Shapes and forms are used instead of words to create a visual story. Keorpes’ recently received a Master in Arts in painting at GSU and is a graduate of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is an art teacher at Thornwood High School.

The Visual Arts Gallery is Monday and Tuesday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Wednesday and Thursday, from 2 to 7 p.m. It is located adjacent to E Lounge in Governors State University , 1 University Parkway, University Park, IL. For more information, please visit or call (708) 534-4017.
