CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–April 13, 2015.  Jessica Hopper, author of the forthcoming book The First Collection of Criticism by a Living Female Rock Critic, will read from her work as part of the Roosevelt University Reading Series at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 15 in the University’s 10th floor library, 430 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago.

Hopper is a music and culture critic whose work regularly appears in GQ, Rolling Stone, The Village Voice and the Chicago Tribune. The First Collection documents the last 20 years of American music making and the shifting landscape of music consumption. It will be available at the reading ahead of its official release, and is published by Featherproof Books, which is based at Roosevelt University and run by current visiting writer Tim Kinsella.

“Many of our students, in studying with Tim Kinsella and working with Featherproof over the past year, have had the opportunity to observe and participate in this book’s publication,” said Christian TeBordo, director of the MFA Program in Creative Writing at Roosevelt. “It’s exciting for them to see the results of this process firsthand, and it’s a particular honor to welcome Jessica Hopper to campus.”

Free and open to the public, the reading is presented by the MFA in Creative Writing Program, the University’s literary magazine, Oyez Review, and the Department of Literature and Languages at Roosevelt University. For more information, contact [email protected] or 312-341-2417.
