Eleven High Schools to Compete in IHSA Regional Speech Contest at Southland College Prep Charter High School, Saturday, February 2


RICHTON PARK–(ENEWSPF)–January 31, 2013– Southland College Prep, 4601 Sauk Trail, Richton Park, will host the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Regional Individual Events -Speech Contest Saturday, February 2.

Eleven high schools: Bremen, Crete-Monee, Homewood-Flossmoor, Marian Catholic, Rich East, Thornridge, Thornton Fractional South, Thornton Township, Thornwood, Tinley Park, and host Southland College Prep will participate in the competition.

Each of the schools may enter one performer in each of the fifteen events. The competition will range from radio speaking and original comedy to duet acting and performance- in-the- round.

Competition will open at 8:30 a.m. and continue through the final round beginning at 2:30 p.m. Each student will perform a maximum of three times during the day.

“Competition will be superb, for three of the schools have placed in the top ten in the IHSA State Speech Finals during the past five years.” said Cheryl Frazier, Southland’s speech coach.  

Led by Ms. Frazier and her staff, Southland’s National Honor Society members, student volunteers, staff members and Southland parents will assist to ensure a quality experience for all, including visitors who are welcome.
