The League of Women Voters of the Park Forest Area announced today that Chris Slowik, organizational director for SCOPE, will meet with them on Wednesday, February 13 at 7:00 PM and the Park Forest Public Library, 400 Lakewood Boulevard, to discuss school funding issues. This is part of a series of meetings that League will hold to meet with experts in order to study the issues impacting state and federal policy.
SCOPE is a coalition of 60 public school districts in South Suburban and Will Counties. The mission of SCOPE is to provide leadership and organization to coordinate support from the legislature so that children in the south suburban region will be educated to meet the challenges of the future.
The League of Women Voters of the Park Forest Area was established in 1949 and welcomes anyone interested in promoting responsible government to be a member. The League is a nonpartisan political organization which encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
