Novelist and Attorney Scott Turow to Deliver Special Guest Lecture at Governor State University on May 16


University Park, Ill.—(ENEWSPF)–May 13, 2014 – Author and attorney Scott Turow will deliver a special guest lecture entitled “How I Got to be Two Things,” Friday, May 16 at 3 p.m. in  Governors State University’s Sherman Music Hall. The lecture is free and open to the public and there will be a book signing after the lecture.

Mr. Turow is the celebrated author of nine best-selling works of fiction, including his first novel, “Presumed Innocent,” its sequel “Innocent” and his newest novel, “Identical.” His works of non-fiction include “One L,” about his experience as a law student and “Ultimate Punishment,” a reflection on the death penalty.

Mr. Turow is also a practicing attorney. After graduating from Harvard Law School, he was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Chicago and served as lead counsel in a number of prosecutions related to corruption in the legal profession. He is now a partner in the Chicago office of the international firm, Dentons, since 1986. There he concentrates on white collar criminal defense and he devotes a significant amount of time to pro bono work. He is a member of the Illinois Executive Ethics Commission, of which he was the first chair, and served as a member of the Illinois Commission on Capital Punishment, whose recommendations led to substantial reforms of the Illinois death penalty.

Mr. Turow will also be an honorary degree recipient at Governors State University’s commencement ceremonies May 17.
