On Wednesday, March 14, schools throughout the United States will walk out of their classes for seventeen minutes of silence to honor the lives lost in the Florida school shooting. The Chicago Public School students will be walking out in support of this effort.
Locally, students will wear black in recognition of the disproportionate effect that gun violence has had on people of color, and the lack of coverage this issue receives in the media.
The walkout will occur at 10:00 a.m. across all time zones on Wednesday, March 14th.
