Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)–Editor’s Note: We continue our reporting on news from police reports. Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.

An arrest does not mean that a person is guilty. All those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty. It is the policy of eNews Park Forest to not remove items in the public record from publication. A Toshiba laptop computer valued at $599 was reported stolen from a classroom at Blackhawk School on October 18. An internal investigation determined that a student allegedly took the computer. The incident will be referred to the School Board for disciplinary purposes, according to police. The victim told police that civil damages will be sought regarding the loss of the computer. There were no arrests.

Jean P. Washington, 31, 848 W. Central Ave., Matteson, was arrested on October 22 and charged with domestic battery and resisting a peace officer when police responded to the 200 block of Early Street to investigate a report of domestic battery.

A black Nokia cell phone valued at $60 was reported stolen from a bench by the basketball court at Forest Trail Middle School on October 22.

A garage door and a window of a residence in the 400 block of Watseka Street were reported damaged on October 24 in an apparent attempt to gain entry to the residence.

Eight cassette tapes valued at $40 and $3.00 in loose change were reported stolen from a vehicle parked at the Metra Parking Lot in the 500 block of Homan Avenue on October 24. Entry had been gained to the vehicle by shattering the driver’s side front window.

Three juveniles were arrested on October 24 and charged with burglary, resisting a peace officer and curfew violation when police were dispatched to the 400 block of Dogwood Street to investigate a report of suspicious persons by a vehicle. James Smart, 18, 162 Elm St., Park Forest, was also arrested in connection with this call and was charged with resisting a peace officer, according to police.

A CD case containing approximately 30 CDs, valued at $350, a purse valued at $200, and a backpack containing materials valued at $560 were reported stolen from a vehicle parked near the intersection of Arcadia Street and Arrowhead Street on October 24.

Fateen J. Bryant, 36, 131 Ash St., Park Forest, was arrested on October 25 and charged with criminal damage to property when police were dispatched to the 100 block of Ash Street to investigate a report of a domestic disturbance. Police say Bryant admitted to that that he allegedly admitted that he took another person’s laptop computer and slammed it onto the blacktop outside of his residence causing it to shatter.

Police were dispatched to the first block of Sangamon Court on October 25 to investigate a report of burglary.  According to police, someone entered a residence and stole a small brown leather coin purse containing about $.50.

Police were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Miami street on October 25 to investigate a report of a Broadview Alarm Company alarm activation. On arrival, police found that the rear door of the residence had been forced open. The owner was contacted.

Police were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Berry Street on October 26 to investigate a report that unknown suspect(s) had gained entry to an attached garage.

Four juveniles were arrested on October 26 and charged with disorderly conduct when police were dispatched to the area of Western Avenue and Indianwood Boulevard to investigate a report of a group of juveniles on the side of the road throwing rocks at passing vehicles. Police say the juveniles admitted that they were throwing objects at passing cars on Western Avenue. Police say they found that one of the juveniles had a collection of acorns.

The driver’s door window of a vehicle parked at the 211th Street Metra Parking Lot was reported shattered on October 26.

A 36-inch Sony flat-screen screen television valued at $800 and a 22-inch Sony flat-screen screen television valued at $500 were reported stolen from a residence in the 300 block of Sauk Trail on October 27.

Two dollars were reported stolen from a vehicle parked at the Metra Parking Lot in the 500 block of Homan Avenue on October 27. The front driver’s side window of the vehicle had been shattered.

Graffiti was reported spray-painted on a vacant residence in the first block of Hemlock Street on October 27.

A resident reported to police on October 27 that $491 was successfully transferred from her credit card to Romania by unknown person(s). There were three other attempts that were unsuccessful. The resident was reimbursed by her bank, according to police.

A washing machine valued at $150, two stereo speakers valued at $75 and an unknown number of small tools valued at $50 were reported stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Allegheny Street on October 27.

Anthony Mitchell, 52, 16 Sauk Trail, Park Forest, was arrested on October 28 and charged with domestic battery when police responded to the first block of Sauk Trail to investigate a report of domestic battery.

A gray AT&T Samsung cell phone, a PlayStation videogame, two 18 karat gold necklaces, two 18 karat gold bracelets, and a gold watch with a white leather strap were reported stolen from a residence in the 300 block of Neola Street on October 28.

A juvenile was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia when an officer patrolling in the 200 block of Allegheny Street observed a juvenile walking. Police say the officer stopped the juvenile because he recognized the juvenile and also knew that the juvenile had a Juvenile Warrant out of Cook County on a charge of residential burglary.

A stove cook top valued at $20 was reported stolen from a residence in the first block of Apache Street on October 29.
