Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)–Editor’s Note: We continue our reporting on news from police reports. Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.
An arrest does not mean that a person is guilty. All those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty. A vehicle parked in the 100 block of East Sycamore Drive was reported vandalized on August 12.
An Apple keyboard valued at $49.99 was stolen from the front of a residence in the 100 block of Monee Road on August 13. The keyboard had been delivered to the front door of the residence.
An RCA 32-inch flat-screen television valued at $200 was reported stolen from a residence in the 400 block of Niagara Street on August 13. A window of the residence had been broken to gain entrance.
A number of items valued at approximately $2000, including $50 in mixed US coins, $200 in gold coins, a PlayStation 3 game system, a Nintendo Wii game system as well as miscellaneous pieces of jewelry were reported stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Larue Street on August 15.
Julian R. Aguayo, 20, 332 Winnebago St., Park Forest, was arrested August 15 and issued a municipal citation charging possession of cannabis when an officer on patrol at 12:45 AM in the area of Central Park, 420 Lakewood Blvd., observed an occupied vehicle parked in the parking lot.
Police were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of Oswego Street to investigate a report of a disturbance. There were no arrests.
A plastic jug containing approximately $50 in coins was reported stolen from a residence in the 400 block of New Salem Street on August 15. Entry had been gained to the residence by smashing a door open.
A black 2007 Nissan Altima, Illinois registration 6355817, was reported stolen from the 100 block of North Orchard Drive on August 15.
Police were discharged to the area near Forest Trail Middle School at approximately 10:38 PM on August 15 to investigate a report of shots fired. Police noticed that windows of a teaching trailer had been damaged and windows of the school building had been damaged as well.
A blue and silver 22-inch Mongoose bicycle was reported stolen from the first block of Main Street on August 15.
Derek C. Trammell, 22115 S. Central Park Ave., Park Forest, was arrested on August 16 and charged with unlawful use of a weapon and possession of cannabis when officers on patrol observed Trammell walking in the 400 block of Westgate Drive. Police say they were already aware that Trammell was wanted for questioning by the Park Forest Police Investigations Division.
A door of a residence in the 400 block of Westgate Drive was reported damaged by kicks on August 16. Police say it appears the door held and no one gained entry to the residence.
Two delivery boxes were reported stolen from outside a residence in the first block of East Rocket Circle on August 16. In addition, an Illinois license plate sticker was reportedly stolen from a vehicle parked in front of that residence as well.
Eric J. Brooks, 23, 3036 W. 163rd St., Markham, was arrested August 16 and charged with misdemeanor possession of cannabis when police stopped the vehicle he was driving on 26th Street after officers observed that the registration plate sticker had expired.
A window of a residence in the 200 block of Arrowhead Street was reported shattered on August 18.
A resident reported to police on August 18 that she has been receiving hospital bills from Minnesota after she allowed a childhood friend of hers from Minnesota to stay with her in May of this year. The resident has never been to Minnesota. Police are investigating.
A 55-inch Panasonic television worth $3500 and a silver Toshiba laptop computer worth $400 were reported stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Wilson Street on August 18.
A Sony 32-inch LCD television valued at $1000, an Emerson VCR/DVD valued at $200 and a passport valued at $100 were reported stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Hay Street on August 18.
A bottle of gin valued at $20 was reported stolen from a residence in the first block of Mantua Court on August 18. Entry was gained to the residence by breaking through a door, according to police.
An officer investigated a report of a residential burglary in the 200 block of Wilson Street on August 18. Entry had been gained to the residence by forcing open a locked door, police said. Nothing appeared to be missing from the residence.
Two thousand dollars cash was reported stolen from the trunk of a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Allegheny Street on August 19.
Pedro E. Mendoza, 27, 415 Rutledge St., Park Forest, and Janeva D. Alexander, 4140 Arlington Dr., Richton Park, were arrested on August 19 when detectives on patrol at approximately 12:52 PM in the area of Rutledge Street and Thomas Street observed two subjects in a vehicle parked in the 400 block of Rutledge Street. One of the detectives observed the man, later identified as Mendoza, licking a cigar from side to side. Police recovered a clear plastic bag containing a green leafy substance, suspect cannabis, and a hand-rolled cigar containing a green leafy substance, suspect cannabis, inside the vehicle. The vehicle was impounded.
Marvin Q. Bentley, 36, 1433 Ellis Ave., Ford Heights, was arrested on August 19 and charged with domestic battery when police were dispatched to the 400 block of Watseka Street to investigate a report of domestic battery.
A DVD player valued at $100 was reported stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Lester Road on August 19.
Brandon L. White, 26, 351 Sauk Trail, Park Forest, was arrested on August 20 and charged with domestic battery when police responded to the area of Family Video on Sauk Trail in reference to a report of a disturbance.
Jeremy L. Williams, 25, 3608 216th Pl., Matteson, was arrested on August 20 and charged with possession of cannabis when an officer on patrol in the 400 block of Shabbona Drive observed that the vehicle Williams was driving had the car stereo blasting at a high volume, according to police. The officer was over 150 feet away from the vehicle when he heard the stereo, according to police.
A bottle of alcohol was reported stolen from a business in the first block of Main Street on August 20.
An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Hay Street on August 21 to investigate a report of criminal damage to property. A resident reported that a window of a door had been shattered.
Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Ash Street to investigate a report of domestic battery. The alleged victim signed a waiver of prosecution, according to police. There were no arrests.
