Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Park Forest police announced an arrest in the shooting death of 17-year-old De’Andre Allen, a young man shot on February 21, 2016, in the 100 block of Gibson Street.
Lenae Patterson (pictured), age 21, of Park Forest, has been charged with one count of first degree murder in connection with the shooting death of De’Andre Allen, age 17, of both Lansing and Park Forest, Illinois, according to police.
Allen suffered a gunshot wound on February 21, 2016 at approximately 4 PM, while outside of his home on the 100 block of Gibson Rd. in Park Forest, according to police.
Park Forest Paramedics responded and performed life saving measures and Allen was rushed to the St. James Hospital emergency room in Chicago Heights, according to police. However, he succumbed to his injuries on February 25, 2016, according to police.
The statement goes on to say “a multi-day investigation” by the Park Forest Police Department and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force resulted in the recovery of the firearm allegedly used in this crime and in criminal charges being filed against Patterson.
Police say in the statement that the investigation revealed the shooting to have been the result of an alleged dispute between Patterson and Allen.
“The members of the Park Forest Police Department offer their sincerest condolences to the family, friends, and classmates of De’Andre Allen, and thank the responding police officers, paramedics and investigators who worked tirelessly on this case,” police said in the statement.
