Proper use of a child safety seat can lower the risk of injury or death in most car crashes. Certified child passenger safety technicians will be on the Prairie State College (PSC) campus from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5, to teach parents and caregivers how to properly install a child safety seat and how to place the child into the seat properly to ensure their safety.

The Safety Seat Check will be held in parking lot E, located outside of the Health Tech Center on the North side of Vollmer Road, across from the main campus. New car seats will be given to attendees who are in need of a seat for their children. Child must be present to receive the seat. The event is free and open to the public.

The event is co-sponsored by the PSC Police Department, Illinois Action for Children, the Illinois Department of Transportation Division of Traffic Safety and Rush Copley Medical Center. For more information, contact George Pfotenhauer at [email protected] or call 708709-7834.
