New downtown facility will be regional center for multiple businesses, regional conference center
CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–December 13, 2012. Mayor Rahm Emanuel today welcomed The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) to their new downtown sales facility, located at 353 N Clark St. Dow’s arrival to Chicago is expected to bring hundreds of new jobs over the next several years.
“I am proud to welcome Dow Chemical to Chicago, their commitment to Chicago is a testament to the business environment and talent in the city,” said Mayor Emanuel. “Dow’s new office relocation exemplifies the sort of dynamic and thriving company that will carry Chicago’s business community forward in the 21st century.”
Dow’s move downtown came together after a series of meetings between Mayor Emanuel, senior members of the Administration, and top officials from Dow. The positions at the facility will be primarily sales professionals who will service the entire Midwest. Dow received no incentives to create the positions in Chicago.
“Under the leadership of Mayor Emanuel, Chicago has continued to foster a dynamic workforce, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a culture of innovation, exploration and commercialization which provides a strong foundation for Dow’s Midwestern Regional Sales Center,” said Andrew N. Liveris, Dow chairman and chief executive officer “The office will serve as a center of collaboration, a place where Dow employees will work and learn from one another, and engage with our customers on breakthrough solutions in fields as diverse as microbial control, water, building solutions and energy-efficient insulation materials.”
Dow will also continue its ongoing collaborative research with Argonne National Laboratory through the Department of Energy’s Batteries and Energy Storage Hub to help create the next generation of battery and energy storage technologies for electric and hybrid cars.
Mayor Emanuel’s focus on job creation has led to announcements with nearly 70 companies during his administration, totaling nearly 25,000 jobs.
