Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Mayor Jon Vanderbilt declared June Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Pride Month in Park Forest at the meeting of the Village Board on Monday, June 3, 2019.
The resolution follows:
A Proclamation Recognizing and Celebrating June as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Month
WHEREAS, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer communities of Park Forest and the entire southland are vitally important to community and the region; and
WHEREAS, the Park Forest Commission on Human Relations was established, in part, to celebrate and support the Village’s diverse citizenry; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Park Forest is made up of a diverse population with there being an appreciation of all residents regardless of age, ethnicity, religious affiliation or sexual orientation; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Park Forest recognizes, and is committed to protecting, the civil rights of all people; and
WHEREAS, a number of Park Forest residents identify themselves specifically as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender or Queer citizens; and
WHEREAS, there are individuals of various races and ethnicities who identify with such personal identifications who are represented in virtually all professions and all walks of life; and
WHEREAS, the month of June has traditionally been set aside by citizen groups and governments across the United States as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Pride Month.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jonathan Vanderbilt, Mayor of the Village of Park Forest, Cook and Will Counties, Illinois do hereby proclaim that in recognition of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Pride Month, Park Forest residents are encouraged to seek a better understanding of these individuals and actively promote human dignity and equality for all people.
