
Alsip, IL–(ENEWSPF)– As a non-profit community service agency based in Alsip, Sertoma Centre serves over 600 individuals with developmental, physical, emotional disabilities and/or mental illness.
With two day program facilities in Alsip, nine Community Integrated Living Arrangements (CILAs) throughout the south and southwest suburbs, as well as our Good as New Thrift Store and brand-new mental health facility in Matteson, we are committed to providing opportunities that empower individuals to achieve personal success.
With that in mind, Sertoma Centre is proud to announce the winners of this year’s Achieve and Create Excellence (ACE) awards for Sertoma Centre staff members. These awards were presented during our annual staff in-service held on Friday, October 16, 2009 at the Doubletree Hotel Chicago/Alsip. Over the last several months, employees were nominated by their peers, and the winner in each category was presented with either a beautiful certificate or a glass trophy.

Above & Beyond – Janitorial Services: Ralph Rogers, Janitorial Services Crew Member
Leadership: Kim Haas, Director of CILA/Residential Services
Customer Service: Jane Heinrich, Reception
Team Spirit: Gail Schenk, School Transition Program Manager
Consumer Advocacy & Empowerment: Delana Henry, Intermittent CILA Service Facilitator
As part of the full day training and recognition program, Sertoma Staff were also treated to the inspiration and motivation of internationally renowned speaker, Mikki Williams, through her trademark presentation, “A Balancing Act: Walking the Tightrope of Life” (www.mikkiwilliams.com).
Linda Renardo, Director of Human Resources at Sertoma Centre attributes the success of this year’s in-service to both Williams and the enthusiastic participation of staff.
“We were so pleased to be able to combine the recognition of staff for years of dedication and excellence of service with a presentation which focused on enriching their lives,” she said. “It is especially gratifying that so many of our employees felt Mikki’s presentation was not only entertaining but provided meaningful insight they could use.”
