Wear Blue for 200 Tuesdays — a suggested viral action
Tuesday, January 10th is the first of 200 Tuesdays until we get to vote in 2020 for the President who will replace Donald Trump. Please help spread the word about this as another protest action we each can take – wear an article of clothing that is blue on Tuesday and for the next 199 weeks until you can cast your next ballot for President. Clothes don’t change the ballot box, but this simple action establishes a persistent routine to help maintain the urgency of today over 4 years to when we next vote for President. And the reminder also works 96 Tuesdays from now when we vote again for Congress.
Why wear blue? Wearing a particular color is a declaration of our values that virtually anyone can do. Even those required to wear a uniform may be able to show blue in their socks or something else that they wear. And while many of us are also taking more aggressive but narrower actions, we also want to engage the broadest possible part of the population in taking action from the very beginning. Republicans only got 46% of the Presidential vote, 42% of the Senate vote, and 49% of the House vote – most American voters did not ask for the politicians that we got, and there were many other eligible voters who sat on the sidelines. This offers a simple way for the widest possible part of the population to express their concern with the direction that our nation has taken, and to do so in a way that keeps pointing to the most important step that can make to change the outcomes in the future. And when you wear blue, you give encouragement to others who may understand that you are out there
Blue also represents the blue state values that Donald Trump rejects: respecting all Americans based on the content of their character; respecting hard work and expertise over inherited wealth and power; choosing people over corporations; choosing kindness and caring; science.
Blue state values are an essential part of America – without blue, our flag just looks white and angry.
So show your blue colors! Spread the word!
