Washington, DC Occupiers Disrupt Hearing Before House Armed Services Committee

Washington, D.C.–(ENEWSPF)–October 13, 2011.  The Occupy Movement in Washington, DC today will disrupt a hearing to reviewing ten years of war and looking toward future military conflicts. Members of the October2011.org Movement called for an end to failed war quagmires and for troops and dollars to immediately come home.  The hearing begins at 10:00 AM in the Rayburn House Office Building in room 2118.

“The decade of war has been a costly failure – costly in lives and dollars — that has undermined our national security and weakened the rule of law. This has been a decade of disgrace for the United States with torture, widespread incarceration of civilians without charges and mass killing of innocent civilians,” said Kevin Zeese, an organizer of October21011.org and co-chair of the anti-war group Come Home America

Medea Benjamin, co-founder of CODE PINK, will be at the Rayburn Building and available for updates, said “It is time to end the long war.  Ten years of war has shown that it creates more enemies that we capture or kill.  And, with the economy in collapse it is time to bring war dollars home and dramatically cut the military budget.”

The protest will be live streamed on October21011.org.
