Bike helmets, sunscreen, earplugs and other safety items given away
CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–August 22,k 2014. Back-to-school safety will be front and center at the second annual Northwestern Medicine® Glenview Outpatient Family Health and Safety Fair on Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event features giveaways, opportunities to meet with representatives from a variety of Northwestern Medicine specialties and fun family activities, like a kid-sized bike safety course. Admission is free and the fair is open to the public.
“More than 400 people attended our inaugural Healthy and Safety Fair last year, and we are expecting an even bigger turnout this year,” said Kathryn M. Petrungaro, MD, an internist and the clinical information technology director at the Glenview Outpatient Center. “The fair is an easy and fun way to meet Northwestern Medicine staff and providers, get information about routine screening recommendations and common medical problems, and participate in health-minded games and activities.”
For kids:
Hundreds of bike helmets will be given away (while supplies last)
Free on-site bike helmet fittings and a kid-sized bike course in the parking lot from Glenview Cycles

Learn how to safely wear a backpack

For adults:
- Health education booths with Northwestern Medicine specialists in dermatology, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, audiology, cardiology, ENT, immediate care, neurology, ophthalmology/optometry, orthopaedics and pediatrics
