CHICAGO—(ENEWSPF)—July 28, 2017
“This victory for health care advocates, including Indivisible groups across the country, is a testament to the power of the grassroots movement. Relentless constituent pressure across the country, using every tactic from civil disobedience to phone banking, killed a bill that many thought was certain to pass.
“Indivisible Chicago is grateful to our Democratic Senators, Senator Durbin and Senator Duckworth for their tireless efforts in defense of the Affordable Care Act. The unified front presented by the Senate Democrats, as well as their support for the resistance, buoyed grassroots organizers as they worked relentlessly to sway the few remaining moderate Republicans.
“Senate Republicans have clearly demonstrated their desire to strip the essential protections afforded by both the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid, and so while we celebrate this victory and everything it represents, we will remain vigilant in our defense of every American’s right to quality healthcare.
“Indivisible Chicago calls on the Trump Administration and Senate Republicans to abandon their attempts to sabotage healthcare and instead focus on a bipartisan effort to expand health care access, lower premiums, and improve coverage.”
