Washington, DC–(ENEWSPF)–December 26, 2012. The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Name of Product: Artificially Lit Christmas Trees
Units: About 15,500
Distributor: GKI Bethlehem Lights of Taunton, Mass.
Retailer: QVC of West Chester, Pa.
Hazard: The Christmas tree base can overheat, posing a fire hazard.
Incidents/Injuries: QVC has received 30 reports of the tree base overheating, melting or smoking. No injuries were reported.
Description: This recall involves the 6.5 foot and 7.5 foot Ready Shape Scottsdale Tree with Never Fail Lights. Model numbers H191953 and H191954 are included in this recall. The model number is on a label on the tree base and on the QVC box. “Bethlehem Lights” is on the box and the instruction sheets.
Sold exclusively at: QVC from July 2011 through November 2011 for $320 for the 6.5-foot tree and $398 for the 7.5-foot tree.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately unplug and stop using the Christmas tree and contact QVC to receive a refund. QVC is contacting its customers directly by mail.
