CHICAGO HEIGHTS—(ENEWSPF)—September 22, 2017. Prairie State College (PSC) is hosting Manufacturing Day from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 4, in the Atrium on the college’s main campus, located at 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights.
The morning opens with a job fair at 10 a.m., where PSC students and community members can meet with employers about job opportunities in the manufacturing fields. Attendees are encouraged to bring a current resume and dress in business attire. There are currently more than 1500 manufacturing jobs available in the Chicago Southland area. From 1 p.m. to 2:30, community members are welcome to tour the manufacturing labs on campus and experience demonstrations and see products made from manufacturing equipment, as well as learn about the training and education opportunities offered at PSC.
The free event is being offered in partnership with Career Preparation Network, Chicago Southland Economic Development Corporation, National Able Network, OAI, Inc., Crete-Monee High School, Bloom Township High School, Bloom Trail High School, Homewood-Flossmoor High School, Marian Catholic High School, Rich Central High School, Rich East High School, and Rich South High School.
Manufacturing Day is an annual celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. It officially occurs on the first Friday in October.
