Prairie State College to Host Event for National Single Parents Day, March 21

CHICAGO HEIGHTS–(ENEWSPF)–March 20, 2017.  In honor of National Single Parents Day, Prairie State College (PSC) is hosting a resources fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and again from 4 to 6 p.m., on Tuesday, March 21, in the atrium on the college’s main campus at 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights. The event is free and open to the public.

Useful information about initiatives both on and off campus, local child care centers, assistance programs, community resources and support for single parents will be available for attendees. At 11:30 a.m., students in the PSC Dental Hygiene Program will give a presentation about the importance of dental care and provide information about the PSC clinic. There also will be raffles, giveaways and more.

National Single Parent Day recognizes and celebrates the hard work, devotion and sacrifices of those individuals who are taking on the primary role as parents.

“We want to take the time to show our support for all parents and especially single parents, who are juggling home, school and work while raising their children,” said Dr. Terri L. Winfree, PSC president. “Whether by chance or by choice, single parents deserve recognition and honor,” she said.
