New Democratic National Convention Video on Sandy Hook “My Mother”

Philadelphia, PA –(ENEWSPF)–July 28, 2016.  On December 14, 2012, Erica Smegielski’s world was turned upside down when her mother and best friend, Dawn, was killed in the horrific shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Since then, she has turned her tears into anger—and her anger into action—to help spare other families the pain that changed her life forever.

In the new video “My Mother”, Erica describes the devastating moment she found out about her mother’s murder. She recalls receiving the phone call, rushing to the elementary school, and waiting for answers—experiences common to far too many American families.

Erica knows that Hillary Clinton is the only candidate who can break the political stalemate and address our country’s gun violence epidemic. Erica knows how high the stakes are in this election; and that Hillary has the experience and steadiness to bring people together to tackle big challenges—and get real results. Hillary understands that we must work together to find solutions because we are stronger together.

About the Democratic National Convention

The 2016 Democratic Convention will be held at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia July 25-28, 2016.   Working in partnership with the Philadelphia Host Committee, the City of Philadelphia and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, our goal is to make this the most engaging, innovative and forward looking Convention in history.  The 2016 Democratic National Convention will leverage technology to take the Convention experience well beyond the hall in an effort to engage more Americans than ever before in the event.  With the birthplace of American Democracy as a backdrop, the 2016 convention in Philadelphia will highlight our shared Democratic values and help put the Democratic nominee on a path to victory.

The Democratic Convention is the formal nominating event for the Democratic candidates for President and Vice President.  At the Convention, the Democratic Party also adopts the official Democratic Party platform as well as the rules and procedures governing party activities including the nomination process for presidential candidates in the next election cycle.
