Dr. Ezekiel J. Emanuel on the Bipartisan Framework to Replace Medicare’s Sustainable Growth Rate Formula

Washington, D.C.–(ENEWSPF)–October 31, 2013.  Today, Dr. Ezekiel J. Emanuel, Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress, issued the following reaction to the release of the bipartisan Senate-House framework for replacing Medicare’s Sustainable Growth Rate, or SGR, mechanism:

The bipartisan framework introduced today to replace the flawed and costly Medicare Sustainable Growth Rate formula is a critical improvement to our nation’s health care system. Through strong financial incentives that reward value and quality over quantity and encourage participation in new payment models, the proposed framework will bring down costs while improving patient care. We look forward to working with Congress to draft this framework into legislation and strongly urge Congress not to weaken its payment reforms as it moves forward.
