Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Mother Nature bid a vicious greeting to a family Blackhawk Drive this evening during the storm that swept through the region. Harsh winds blew open the family’s locked front door and blew over a large maple tree that had been rooted in the parkway.

Village officials and police were on hand to observe the damage. Christine Jones lives in the house in the 300 block of Blackhawk Drive and spoke with eNews Park Forest.

"It’s unbelievable. I couldn’t believe that this happened," she said. "I see branches that fall all the time, but never a whole tree on someone’s home. It’s amazing that no one got hurt. I’m just glad that my family who was inside is safe."

"The storm actually blew the front door open," she continued.

"The door was locked," her husband added. He added that there appears to be a hole in the roof along with gutter damage.
