Ottawa, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Mark DiLuia belted a three-run homer and Jordan Smevoll didn’t allow a hit in the final four innings of a two-hit complete game, as Marian Catholic advanced to the finals of the Ottawa IHSA 2A Sectional with a 4-1 decision over Coal City on Wednesday.
The Spartans (21-14) will take on Lemont or Oak Forest on Saturday in an 11 a.m. championship contest.

Christian Beal reached on an error and moved up when Dan Gutierrez’ sacrifice was played into an error. Then DiLuia (2-for-4) cracked a 3-2 pitch over the right-center field fence for a 3-1 command.
Marian tallied again in the fourth when Sean Taylor singled, advanced on a sacrifice by Pierce Jones and infield single by Beal, then scored on Gutierrez’ sacrifice fly.
Smevoll fanned six and gained additional offense from batterymate Angelo Cantelo, who went 3-for-4.
