Rep. Schakowsky Statement on Republicans Voting for the 37th Time to Repeal Obamacare

Washington, DC–(ENEWSPF)–May 17, 2013 – Rep. Jan Schakowsky released the following statement on Republicans voting for the 37th time to repeal Obamacare:

“Yesterday House Republicans shamefully wasted the time and money of the American people by voting for the 37th time to repeal Obamacare.

“I challenge Republicans to explain why they chose to take away the benefits and protections that Obamacare provides. Explain to 125,000 young adults in Illinois why they lose insurance coverage since they cannot remain on their parents’ plans. Explain to 134,000 seniors in Illinois, who have saved over $235 million on their prescription drugs, why they need to pay more for their drugs. And explain to 1.4 million Illinoisans why they will no longer have the opportunity to finally obtain quality, dependable health insurance coverage.

“I proudly voted against the repeal of this bill. Republicans need to stop wasting the American people’s time and start focusing on the economy, creating good jobs and protecting Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.”
