Park Forest Police Report for April 20, 2009


Eddie Williams, 18, 14 Apache St., Park Forest, was arrested on April 9 and charged with battery, obstructing a peace officer, and walking in the roadway. Officer Morache was patrolling the Eastgate subdivision at 9:43 p.m. at the intersection of Allegheny and Apache Streets when he observed Williams allegedly standing in the roadway. According to police, Williams was in the middle of the road speaking with the driver of a vehicle which was stopped in the roadway. Officer Morache told Williams to put his hands on the hood of the squad car. Williams complied. Officer Morache told Williams he was being stopped for walking in the roadway when Williams allegedly became irate. Williams allegedly began to argue with Officer Morache, taking his hands off the squad car and attempting to turn around, according to police. Williams allegedly continued to argue and swore at Officer Morache. Williams then allegedly pushed off from the vehicle backwards toward Officer Morache. Officer Morache then physically forced Williams to the ground and took him into custody. Officer Morache then escorted Williams to the rear of the squad car and told him to get in. Williams then turned toward Officer Morache and allegedly spit in the officer’s face, according to police.

A General Electric gas stove valued at $675, a General Electric microwave valued at $375, and a lawnmower valued at $300 were reported stolen from a residence in the 400 block of Tamarack Street on April 11.

Erik A. Thompson, 17, 318 Marquette St., Park Forest, and Errick T. Yance, 19, 355 Waverly St., Park Forest, were arrested on April 11 and charged with criminal damage to property when police were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Wilson Street in reference to a report of two suspicious persons attempting to break into a vacant residence.

Emawnuayl Gray, 27, 718 Kostner St., Matteson, was arrested on April 12 and charged with domestic battery when police responded to a residence in the 200 block of Dogwood Street to investigate a 911 hang-up.

Police were dispatched to Family Video, 375 Sauk Trail, on April 13 shortly before 11:00 p.m. to investigate a report of a deceptive practice. An employee related that a male black subject, between 23 and 26 years of age, entered the store, approached the front desk, and asked for change for a $50 bill. The employee provided the change. During the transaction, the suspect asked for the change in specific denominations which he continued to change during the transaction. Suddenly, he asked for change for another $50 bill, according to police. When the transaction was completed, he returned to his vehicle and left the area, according to police. While closing her cash drawer for the night, the employee realized that she was $49 short. At this point, she told police she realized that she had been scammed by the subject. Police continue to investigate.

A red 2007 Dodge Ram 1500, Illinois license 39408P, was reported stolen from the 300 block of Sheridan Street on April 13.

A juvenile was arrested and processed on a charge of reckless conduct when police were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Indianwood Boulevard to investigate a report of a disturbance.

A 46-inch high-definition Samsung brand LCD television valued at $800, a 17-inch flat-panel Dell brand computer monitor valued at $200, a yellow and black DeWalt brand cordless drill valued at $250, a yellow and black DeWalt cordless saw valued at $200, a 19-inch Samsung LCD television valued at $700, a PlayStation 2 mini game system, with three controllers, valued at $300, 32-inch Magnavox brand LCD television valued at $400, numerous items of jewelry valued at over $2000 total, and over $1000 cash, were reported stolen from a residence in the 300 block of Winnebago Street on April 14.

Eldridge V. Watkins, 38, 140 Well St., Park Forest, was arrested on April 15 and charged with domestic battery when police were dispatched to the area of Western Avenue and Illinois Street to investigate a report of a domestic disturbance.

An officer on patrol discovered two holes in a window of a business in the 100 block of South Orchard Drive on April 16. The holes had apparently been caused by rocks.

A juvenile was arrested and issued municipal citations charging disorderly conduct and battery when police were dispatched to the area of Todd and Illinois Streets to investigate a report of a disturbance. The juvenile allegedly shouted obscenities and threw a rock which struck the leg of a woman, according to police.
