CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–December 13, 2012. This morning, Mayor Emanuel spoke to The Builders Association of the Chicagoland Area, highlighting continued efforts in making capital investments for Chicago’s infrastructure and economic future.
“We have a shared vision for Chicago, to continue to build our city in order to tackle the economic realities of tomorrow,” said Mayor Emanuel. “Investing in our infrastructure is key to our city’s continued growth. As we repair and improve our roads, runways and rails, we are creating opportunity for people in every neighborhood of our city. We must continue to work together in new ways to attract and create capital investments in Chicago.”
Mayor Emanuel’s meeting with The Builders Association comes on the heels of the news that Chicago is leading in the continued growth of the regional construction industry, with construction investment up 15 percent from the previous year and expected to total $7 billion of investment by the end of the year. This is the first significant gain in five years and points to the direction Chicago and the region’s continued economic growth is taking.
The Builders Association is an organization that has been assisting the Chicago commercial construction industry since 1906 in providing labor, safety and government relations services. The Builders Association of Chicago represents general contractors and subcontractors, suppliers as well as related associations and organizations in Chicago and the region.
