Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— The Economic Development & Planning Department of the Village of Park Forest hosted a business breakfast on Thursday, November 29th at Dining on the Green banquet hall. The breakfast lecture, titled “Strategies for Business Growth”, gave local entrepreneurs an opportunity to learn important tips on effective marketing, access to capital and strategic alliances.
Hilary Burkinshaw, Director of CenterPoint (located at Governors State University), an organization that specializes in providing free management assistance and advice to small businesses, was the speaker for the event.
“Don’t try to be everything to everybody," Burkinshaw urged local business owners. “Write down your goals and know where you want to be," she went on to say.
Burkinshaw and her organization provide similar advice on business practices for success to nearly 600 small businesses and entrepreneurial clients a year.
The event was part of a quarterly networking series sponsored by the Economic Development and Planning Department of Park Forest.
The series has been popular with local business owners, who learn from accomplished business professionals while enjoying a meal together. The seminars also provide a networking opportunity for business and local officials.
A business luncheon is scheduled for February with date and location yet to be determined. Information will soon be available at the Village’s website, or by calling Monica DeLord at 708.283.5617. Business owners are encouraged to RSVP early as seats are limited.
