Local Area Expos and Workshops Highlights Small and Nonprofit Businesses

Tinley Park, IL–(ENEWSPF)– This past week south suburban residents, business owners and non-profit organizations attended numerous expos and workshops held throughout the area.

On Tuesday, September 15th the Chicago Southland Chambers of Commerce held its annual business expo at the Holiday Inn Convention Center, Tinley Park. Over 100 exhibitors from diverse industries were provided the opportunity to market their company or organization and to network with attendees and other exhibitors.

The Chicago Southland Chambers of Commerce represents and supports the best interest of the regional business community and its members by working to improve the economic climate. Members include businesses, healthcare organizations, municipalities, non-profit organizations, and individuals interested in the economic development and promotion of the region. The Chambers host various business and networking events on an on-going basis. The next event, Biz Builder Seminar “Smart Marketing for Today’s Business” will be held on September 30th at South Suburban College. The Minority Business Expo was held at the Holiday Inn, Matteson on Friday, September 18th. The Expo featured approximately 50 exhibitors. The event also honored four persons for their services to the business and residential communities. State Senator Toi Hutchinson received the Distinguished Citizen Award; Bishop Dr. Claude Porter received the Businessman of the Year Award; Dr. Sterling Culp received the Special Service Award; and Alyssa Hernandez was awarded for Community Service.

On Saturday, September 19th, Grant Writing Basic Training was hosted at Prairie State College and presented by Relativity Resources, a local business development firm. The full-day training program designed for non-profit organizations provided in-depth aspects of the pre-grant writing process and the elements of developing a successful grant proposal.
