Lakeview Action Coalition: ‘Pay U.S. Back’ Day of Action in Downtown Chicago Scheduled for October 10

Chicago, IL—(ENEWSPF)—October 2, 2011.  If you believe we are in a revenue crisis and income inequality is unjust and destructive, join the Lakeview Action Coalition (LAC) and allies from across Chicago and the country to tell big banks and corporations to ‘Pay U.S. Back!’

The day of action will be held on Monday, October 10 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  Scheduled events are as follows:

  • 4 p.m. – Rally at the Mortgage Bankers Association meeting being held at the Hyatt Regency, 151 East Wacker Drive (Wacker and Michigan)
  • 5 p.m. – March with thousands of allies – Building a Just Future

Why Should You Take Action with LAC on October 10?

We keep hearing that we all need to tighten our belts and live with all the cuts to our mental health services, affordable housing programs, health programs and programs for seniors; shredding our social safety net in Illinois and in the United States.

Is it ‘shared sacrifice’ if only low and middle income people are losing, while millionaires and big corporations make record profits?  These profits are not being shared with people suffering in our communities.

The week of October 9th, both the Mortgage Bankers’ Association and the Futures Industry Association will be holding annual meetings in Chicago.  These are many of the players who crashed our economy, got bailed out with our money, and continue to wreak havoc on our communities.

Wall Street needs to pay us back what they owe – al the wealth they funneled away.  We are organizing to compel Wall Street and our government to reinvest in America, reverse the wealth and power grab, and put resources back in our hands so we can rebuild our families and communities.
