Summer Meeting Set for League of Women Voters of the Park Forest Area

Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- The League of Women Voters of the Park Forest Area will host their annual Summer Breakfast on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 9:00 AM at the home of Myrtle Martin, 225 Berry Street in Park Forest. The group will review its local study and position on the subject of Holding Dual Elected Offices. In 2009 the LWVPFA did a study and developed a position on public office holders holding more than one office. The study found that the issue is quite complex — some positions do not present a conflict of duties; some do. At the breakfast meeting July 25 at the home of member Myrtle Martin the study and the resulting position will be explained, in order to update members and guests on the subject prior to the local election process beginning in the fall. Discussion of upcoming races where conflicts may occur and actions the LWV can take to inform the candidates and the public of this important issue will also be covered.

Guests are welcome and anyone interested in the topic is encouraged to attend.
