Park Forest Running Club Announces Inaugural Turtle Ten Miler

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The Park Forest Running and Pancake Club announced its inaugural Turtle Ten Miler to be held Saturday, September 4. There is no fee to enter the race.

A statement on the club’s Web site reads:

As Labor Day quickly approaches, we’ve heard from fellow runners that many of us miss an event with a 10 mile distance. It had been a fall tradition to run this distance and, while there are many other great races in the area over this weekend, currently, none are of the ten mile variety.

And so, the Park Forest Running and Pancake Club (PFRPC) is pleased to begin a new tradition. Join us on Saturday, September 4, 2010 beginning at 8 AM for the FIRST ANNUAL

“Turtle Ten Miler”

Our inaugural 2010 event will be very informal (read: no entry fee, no tee shirt) but we Will have our timing clock running and we Will be giving away goody bags to all participants.

As an added feature, if you have planned to run more than ten miles on this weekend, the course will be continue to be stocked with refreshments and staffed by our trusty volunteers after the Turtle Ten Miler finishes, so you can put on that extra mileage.

The Turtle Ten will take place on the Plank Trail, starting in Mokena, and if you think that this trail is boring and flat, well, we have a few surprises in store for you! Water and other refreshments will be available approximately every two miles.  Pancakes and other eatables will be waiting for you at the finish. (After all, pancake is in our club name!).
