Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- We are pleased to showcase this shot of the Village Green, which we are calling “An Aerial Unity Day,” as our second eNews Park Forest Pic of the Week. Last Tuesday, August 1, 2017, the Park Forest Police Department held its First Annual Unity Day on the Village Green. Officers and “the Brass” were present on the Green in a show of force, and dedication.
The inaugural event was set for last year around this time, but rain pushed that back a year.
In the midst of winter, attendees at this event may recall the heat and humidity. Or, Police Chief Pete Green dancing in the dunk tank prior to making a splash.
At different points throughout the evening, Director of Communications Jason Miller and Police Sergeant Julius Moore were working with a drone. Sergeant Moore is credited on the Park Forest Police Facebook page with this incredible shot of the last week’s festivities on the Village Green.
“We’d like to thank the various Park Forest commissions, Village departments, businesses, and volunteers who helped make the event a huge success,” police said in a statement. “So many people played a crucial role, and we couldn’t have done it without you. We’d also like to thank our officers and civilian staff who put in so much effort in ensuring that this was truly a community policing event.”
Police then expressed gratitude to the residents.
“And finally, we’d like to thank our residents who show us so much support day in and day out. Unity Day was for you. We see your blue porch lights and ribbons, we hear your words of encouragement, and we appreciate your waves as we drive by on patrol. We truly are ‘proud to serve’ this community, and we look forward to hosting events like this that bring us together well into the future.”
